TT Scoreboard Passes

May 17, 2012 in Scouts

image

The Scout Passes for the TT Scoreboards have now arrived and will be sent out to Scouts of both the Moddey Dhoo and Phoenix Scout Troops over the next week. The Scout Association had a very large request for passes this year and with the reduced number of Scouts needed, most Scouts will find they are only required on one day out of the four. The organisers had a choice of giving every Scout a day on the Scoreboard, or having just one out of every four who applied being able to attend each race day, with the other three missing out completely, they chose the former.

Bronze Chief Scouts Award

May 15, 2012 in Beavers

image

This week five of our Beavers gained their Chief Scout’s Bronze Award. This prestigious Award can only be achieved by Beavers who have completed all six of their Beaver Scout Challenge Awards (Promise, Friendship, Fitness, Creative, Global and Outdoor). It can take up to two years to complete these challenges and these Beavers have worked hard to make this happen, completing activities at home when necessary. So massive congratulations to Rhys N., James C., Adam D., Ben W. & Aaron C., and thank you to Group Scout Leader, Ash for presenting the Awards.

Manannan Pack Day Hike

May 14, 2012 in Cubs

image

On Sunday 13. May 2012, the Manannan Pack along with their Leaders took part in a eight mile day hike from Derbyhaven to imagePort Soderick.  We all met at 10.30 at the flying club where we followed the Raad Ny Foillan footpath, we stopped a couple of times along the way for drinks and refreshments, our first official stop was the beach at Port Solderick, after a brief break, we carried along on the footpath towards Port Grennaugh where we had our lunch at around 12.30.  After a play on the beach and an explore in the caves, we carried on with the walk onto Port Soderick.  We finished at Port Soderick at 3.45 a little later than planned but nevertheless we all made it. The weather stayed dry for us, although a little windy it didn’t prevent us from hiking.  Thanks to all those who showed up and this walk goes towards the hikes away badge.

Bank Holiday with Manannan Pack

May 10, 2012 in Cubs

image

On Monday it was a bank holiday so instead of a usual Cub Meeting we met at the Venture Centre for activities including Archery, Air Riffle Shooting & the Assault Course. Fun was had by all and the rain and wind didn’t dampen the Cubs spirits.
